Liz Hengber
Brooklyn born Liz Hengber moved to Nashville in 1986. Instead of landing a publishing deal, she landed a job waiting tables at the Blue Bird Café. As she puts it "This is where I went to School" night after night she'd watch the talents of John Prine, Michael Johnson, Don Schlitz, Fred Knochloch, and many more. At first it was intimidating.... and then inspiring.
Finally in 1990, Liz put the education to work for her. She signed to Reba McEntire's company Starstruck and in 6 months was celebrating her first cut, first single, and her first #1 with the song "For My Broken Heart". Shortly after Liz followed this success with 3 more Reba McEntire hit songs. "It's Your Call", and "Still" and "Forever Love" all reached number 1 on Billboard and R&R.
Then in 1996 Liz crossed over to the AC charts with her #4 song recorded by Peter Cetera "Do You Love Me That Much" which also made an appearance in the movie "Good Bye Lover". Her 2nd movie was with her song "Completely" by Jennifer Day. This appeared in "Where the Heart Is" and also made it on the Soundtrack album.
In the year 2000 Liz brought the new century in with 2 hit songs back to back... "Unconditional" and "She's More". "She's More" recorded by Andy Griggs went to number 2 on Billboard and R&R and #1 on Gavin. "Unconditional" recorded by Clay Davidson was #3. This put Liz in Billboard Magazines top 10 writers of the year.
She is now very happy at her new Publishing home, SeaGayle writers group.
Liz has also had cuts with the following Artists: Reba McEntire, Deana Carter, Conway Twitty, Suzie Bogguss, Clay Davidson, Andy Griggs, Tamara Walker, Rick Trevino, Peter Cetera, Jennifer Day, Cindy Thomson, Lari White, Lee Greenwood, Elsa Delang, Lila McCann, Lisa Brokop, Jason Sellers, Regina and Mark Wills, and Trick Pony.
